Typotastic

This is SilvaNoir from deviantart (and other sites), from Massachusetts in real life.

This is a blog full of my thoughts and feelings on COMIC BOOKS, anime, movies, TV, fandom, nostalgia, ART, my (fan)art, shipping, etc.

TYPOS: I type terribly. I only notice them after a post has been reblogged a few times. And then I fix it. After it's too late.

touchofgrey37:

So I found this cool website where you can listen to the top 40 American songs of the year, any year, back to 1946. 2014 is just gonna be the monthly/weekly top 40, until the official list is released at the end of the year.

You’re able to search for songs by name or artist, as well.

You can also download any of the tracks, all for free.

It’s a pretty good website.

Bucky asks the important questions (at 3 a.m.)

Based on this text post.

if you don’t keep your friends up far into the night with dumb questions it’s not a real sleepover.

I couldn’t wait to get home from work (because I hate work but also) because there was a long fanfic I was reading that I was really into.  It had good descriptions of day-to-day life and settings (I could picture them so clearly), wonderful and very human character interactions, sweet but not too sweet with just a tiny bit of drama (resolved within in each chapter instead of being drawn out or used as cliffhangers, thank goodness) and a pinch of wicked humor.  Even the OC side characters were charming.  I was about halfway through when I went to bed last night.

And I must have left off at the last good chapter because it ditched every character except 2 and took a hard left turn into plotless porn.  The characters’ personalities seemed to completely shift as well to fit this.  I tried skipping that chapter because I hoped it would be for one chapter, but nope, upon skimming the rest of the fic all the remaining chapters were like that.  They went into a bedroom and never left.  Goodbye plot, goodbye setting, goodbye side-characters.  *sigh*

*even deeper louder exasperated sigh*

Too many fanfics have done that to me.  Original online fiction as well, back when I’d seek it out in the late 90’s/early 2000’s.  Maybe it would help if authors could mark exactly where they ditch everything to make it into nothing but smut so I know exactly where to stop reading and not get my expectations up.  I may be alone on this but unresolved plot is far far worse to me than unresolved sexual tension.

YOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Senegal, Mauritania, Mali, Burkina Faso, Niger, Nigeria, Chad, Sudan, Eritrea, Ethiopia, and Djibouti. Those are the countries. It will be drought-resistant species, mostly acacias. And this is a fucking brilliant idea you have no idea oh my Christ
This will create so many jobs and regenerate so many communities and aaaaaahhhhhhh

more info here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_Green_Wall
it’s already happening, and already having positive effects. this is wonderful, why have i not heard of this before? i’m so happy!

Oh yes, acacia trees.
They fix nitrogen and improve soil quality.
And, to make things fun, the species they’re using practices “reverse leaf phenology.” The trees go dormant in the rainy season and then grow their leaves again in the dry season. This means you can plant crops under the trees, in that nitrogen-rich soil, and the trees don’t compete for light because they don’t have any leaves on.
And then in the dry season, you harvest the leaves and feed them to your cows.
Crops grown under acacia trees have better yield than those grown without them. Considerably better.
So, this isn’t just about stopping the advancement of the Sahara - it’s also about improving food security for the entire sub-Saharan belt and possibly reclaiming some of the desert as productive land.
Of course, before the “green revolution,” the farmers knew to plant acacia trees - it’s a traditional practice that they were convinced to abandon in favor of “more reliable” artificial fertilizers (that caused soil degradation, soil erosion, etc).
This is why you listen to the people who, you know, have lived with and on land for centuries.

Fantastic.

The Great Green Wall, to resist the encroachment of the Sahara. Fascinating.

Cass Cain’s last appearance before the New 52:
Batman: Gates of Gotham #5
Print release date: August 24, 2011

Cass Cain’s first appearance after the New 52:
Futures End: Batgirl #1
Print release date: September 10, 2014

It is 1113 days from the start date to the end date, but not including the end date.

Or 3 years, 17 days excluding the end date.

So the way I see it, they owe us 3 years worth of Cassandra Cain as Black Bat comics.

I’m forever sad that there is a comic book out there titled “Black Bat”.  But it’s not by DC and it’s not about Cass :(  I want actual Cass Black Bat adventures.

the-crimson-question asked:

if it's not to much trouble, could you weigh in on the newest Bluehood head canon? I'd appreciate it.

Just gonna reply to the post here instead of reblogging.  Jason Todd as a stay-at-home dad?  Absolutely.  I don’t follow much of the DCnU anymore, but in the old universe I got in the impression his own dad wasn’t around much and he didn’t have a very good childhood.  So I think he would be there for as kids as much as he could and give them everything he could, but at the same time being somewhat strict/protective because he knows the dangers out there.

As for Supergirl… well she did used to babysit baby Kal-el, so I imagine she’d be good with kids/like them.  But she wouldn’t give up her superhero career for them… amybe do the cape thing while they are in school or sleeping.

silence-is-not-golden asked:

I just wanted to tell you that your blog theme and my blog theme are almost identical. I accidentally found your blog and thought it was mine for the longest time until I realized I hadn't posted any of it.

Hahaha!  Oh wow it really is.  Well the purple of my stars/links is brighter  and yours are darker, so I suppose that’s the difference
