This is where I post my opinions --good, bad, deep and/or silly-- about various media- comic books, anime, movies, tv, music, fandom, art, my (fan)art, shipping, etc.
I am currently obsessed with DC comics characters. I make frequent typos.

One For You, New England!
all the New England jingles you could ever want
80% of these commercial songs are permanently burned into my brain. Of course it starts with the freakin’ Water Country song… an earworm that has never, ever gone away.

Because madi-starlight asked for some big-sister M’gann (to an adorable little Dick Grayson), so I thought, “hey, I’m an older sister, what did I used to do?”
This. This is what I used to do. So let me know; what do not-crap siblings do, when you’re not terrorizing each other? What do older sisters do with younger brothers?

When people in movies run directly away from the train / boulder / truck / etc instead of just like, taking two steps to the side of it
OH NO A GIGANTIC TREE FALLING OVER *runs away directly along its length*
glAH
Prometheus aggravated me for many reasons, this was one of them. RUN TO THE SIDE!

Huh. Good to keep in mind…..any ,uh, happier wonder woman stories that you’d recommend?
JLA: A League of One ends in hugs. And is preceded by great art and Wonder Woman kicking everyone’s butts including a huge dragon (forget the “who would win, Batman or Superman” debates. The real answer if that WW could take down the whole JL singlehandedly if she had to).
The rest of Rucka’s run after Hiketeia is my favorite run of Wonder Woman (Down to Earth, Bitter Rivals, Eye of the Gorgon, Land of the Dead, Mission’s End). I wouldn’t say it was all happy, because there were dark/violent moments too, but it wasn’t at all bleak like Hiketeia was. And I think it had the best characterization of Wonder Woman as both a warrior and an ambassador of peace. The trades are out of print now, but you might be able to find the singles somewhere. Too bad the run ended due to Infinite Crisis.
If you don’t mind VERY 90’s art, The Contest (introduction of Artmemis, the second WW… bad anatomy but interesting story), and Lifelines (Cassie dones a wig, bracers and flying shoes and declares herself Wondergirl) are realtively bright, aside from the usual comic book conflicts.
Wonder Woman #164-168 “Gods of Gotham” was an arc I really liked. Greek gods posses Poison Ivy, Joker, and Scarecrow. Batman, Wonder Woman, Nightwing, Donna Troy, Huntress, Artemis, Wondergirl, and Robin (Tim) team up to defeat them.
Wonder Woman #170 is a must. Lois Lane interviewing Diana. If you hate the DCnU pairing of WW/Superman, this counteracts it. And both WW and Lois bring up good poits in everything they talk about.
Both comics titled Trinity are good. There’s one that fits into a single trade and the other is 3 trades long. The single trade is how Batman and Superman met Wonder Woman and how they fought Bizarro and Ras al Ghul. The other series… well it goes to weird places (alternate realities) but it starts out good and is mostly about how Supes, WW, and Bats are such good friends and how the entire Universe NEEDS them to exist.
Wonder Woman Retroactive the 1990’s is your best bet for a happy Wonder Woman story. It’s her teaching little girls how to be strong while they try to teach her how to play with dolls (very funny scene). Retroactive the 1980s was pretty good too, has a cute scene with WW resucing Steve Trevor.
And though it’s out of continuity, I’m really enjoying the AmeComiGirls comics version of Wonder Woman.

had to put this out there-
but today’s release of Lil Gothams Chapter 11, mother’s day issue was an extra special issue for myself and Derek. Not only does it celebrate the idea of mothers, fathers, and family,. but to kick off the 2-set, we wanted to give a fun nod to Paul Dini, who created Colin with us a few years ago in a title called Batman: Streets of Gotham.
Colin holds an extremely special place in our hearts. He brings a much needed positivity to Gotham, as well as Damian. Both with complicated pasts and being brought up in difficult environments.. i just felt they were meant to be buddies and have more in common than they’ll realize.
anyway, here’s a clip of Paul being harassed by another character he is considered a father to- the always adorable Harley Quinn.
thanks for creating everything we love Paul!
Aww! And let me just say as a fan, THANK YOU to both of you for making great comics and characters (and cartoons). :)

Everyone likes to recommend The Hiketeia as the best Wonder Woman story
But no one warns you that it is DEPRESSING AS HELL. There is no happy ending. There is no happy anything. So I am here. To warn you. Of that.
On the upside it has Wonder Woman stepping on Batman’s head and him not minding too much. It’s right there on the cover:
oh…good to know….that sucks
Don’t get me wrong. It IS a good comic. It’s well written. As long as you don’t mind tragedies (if it was a fic it would requite several warnings). The main character isn’t even Wonder Woman, it’s a woman that Wonder Woman is trying to help and let’s just say (without spoiling too much of the plot) that absolutely nothing goes well for her.

that sounds like the beginning of a romantic comedy
It does, doesn’t it? Dog and all. Only unlike the movies we won’t meet up again, I won’t get a spectacular makeover, we won’t fall in love, and there won’t be a female singer/songwriter du jour crooning over the rolling credits.
I’ll stay by myself and continue to read my comics and never see him again. Heh.
